You had a great day yesterday, lil bit—very few grouchies and fits. You laughed and played well. It was the return of the Oliver we know and love. I also think I found the culprit to the previous unruly behavior; you are cutting a tooth on the top. Yesterday at breakfast you were playing with my hand, and you took my pointer finger and placed it right on the sharp, little tooth bud, as if to say, “See, Momma? This is why I have been a little crank-pot and not quite myself.” Early morning temperatures yesterday let us play in the shade of the backyard until a little after ten without risk of spontaneous combustion. Images of our fun-n-games follow.

This is the Oliver spider crawl, a technique used whenever you do not wish to have your knees touch the surface you are on, often grass and rubberized playgrounds.

Anytime you hear an airplane, you start scanning the sky for signs of it and are so delighted when you see one glinting in the sun and streaking across the sky, especially the lower ones you can follow until they fly out of sight.

Favorite toy…

You picked your very first tomato yesterday from our garden. I showed you the red ones, and you plucked the low-hanging fruits. As soon as you did, you popped it into your mouth, and I could hear the breaking of the skin by your two bottom teeth. I was weeding yesterday as well, and you spider-crawled over to the garden and started tugging at the grass that has overrun our veggies. I love that you already know what to do in the garden; it does my heart good, my lil farmer.
