pals, dinos and oreos

I was completely out of wipes and down to just four diapers last week when we made our emergency run to Costco. We got on Ellington Parkway behind an orange car, and I wondered if it was Kristie, your sitter, when you started saying Kee-Kee and pointing. It was Kristie, she was watching Milly and she was going to Costco too. We plopped you two cuties in the huge Costco cart and shopped together. The first photo looks like you were making a move on her, and then the second one looks as if you pulled back with a hearty laugh and said, “Just kidding!”

Aunt Kate sent you a great dinosaur poncho bath towel. You are not so sure you like the hood on your head, actually, you hate it, but you look so adorable in it.

You occasionally get something sweet after dinner if you eat well. I’m trying diligently not to let it be something you depend on, but I think I’m failing; flat-out bribery works really well with you. I got Daddy some mint Newman’s O’s, a healthier version of an Oreo. I gave you one and watched while you explored the new cookie. You pulled it apart, pulled the white mint stuffing off without leaving a trace and gobbled that quickly. Then you broke the cookie parts into tiny bits and declared yourself done. I don’t think you’ll make an Oreo commercial with that technique, but it is the most unique approach to eating an Oreo I’ve ever seen!

    Ya-Ya said,

Dear Oliver, you’re expression says you are not crazy about the Dino-Towel, but you look so so cute! I just want to hug you! I hope your Momma doesn’t feel as though her careful writing efforts simply fall into the great void since we seldom seem to post comments… In this world of spacial expansion and time contraction, the reach of the internet is one vital link of family connection. Although I may be across the ocean rather than next door, and although I can’t actually squeeze you in my arms, I only need to power-on to get a quick reminder of why we’re all here and to feel the warmth of pride and love wash over me. You and your Momma and Daddy are so precious.
