school report–10.28

October 28, 2010

Enjoyed the story about “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything!” Smiled for photos! Wore his sweater. He and Witt have so much fun they can get carried away! Oliver enjoys exploring the different roads available to him, shown by his classmates.

school report–10.26

October 26, 2010

For Halloween, he said he was going to be a bumblebee, Daddy—a carpenter bee, and Momma—the Queen Bee. Also regaled us with a story about going to the hockey game. “And you know what? I don’t watch any ‘Toy Story’ or any ‘Curious George!’ I don’t watch any movies!!!”

“Why?” we asked.

“I don’t know!”

Asked Ms. Boo to read today’s lunchbox note. Witt looked at it, pointed to the black cat sticker and asked, “Is that your mom?”

Went to poop and wiped himself with the aid of a whole roll of toilet paper! (well, almost a whole roll!)

not a pretty girl

October 26, 2010

We cannot walk outside that you don’t ask to go play with your neighbor. We are really lucky to have such good neighbors with a child your age. One afternoon of backyard play involved dress-up. You eagerly tried on the purple, plastic high heels and pranced off to the “dance party.” I love that you feel so free to express yourself.

With the exception of one, tiny fall off the deck, you managed the heels with a natural grace.

picking pumpkins

October 26, 2010

We were rained out on the planned date for our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, so we improvised and went to the farmer’s market to choose several pumpkins. I don’t think you minded at all, especially since a couple of guys were unloading big boxes of pumpkins with a forklift. You watched mesmerized, until the unloading was complete, then you went to the older gentleman operating the forklift to tell him you wanted to drive one of those when you get bigger. I’m not sure it was your plan, but you charmed him, and he let you raise and lower the forklift with him.

You went crazy with all the selection, but in the end, these were the chosen ones.

camping natural

October 26, 2010

For Daddy’s birthday, we went with some friends and their families to Bells Bend to camp overnight. We made Daddy a chocolate cake with fudge frosting that morning while he slept in. You went crazy with sprinkles, of course.

It took us all morning to pack, but the campsite was just a short drive away, and we arrived around 2. There were about 10 kids of all different ages and several who were three like you. Margaret, a fellow three-year-old, took to you quickly, and you played easily and hard.  As we began to set up the tent, Daddy and I realized we had left the tent poles out of the bag. While Daddy headed home for them, you and I went on a short hike with the group. I think you appreciated the space to run wild!

After lots of play, hotdogs, s’mores, banana boats, birthday cake and glow sticks, you were eager to hop into your new, orange, big-boy sleeping bag. You wiggled your way out a couple of times, but by-and-large, stayed in and snug all night.
