My lil drool bug, you have been suffering some symptoms of those pesky incoming choppers lately. You have a steady ooze of slime on your bottom lip and chin, and now that we’re back home in twenty degree weather, I am on lotion duty to make sure your sweet face doesn’t chap. For two or three days you had trouble sleeping, spit up a bit more and seemed much more on the cranky side than is usual for you. You gnaw nonstop on your fist… or my knuckles or your toys or your shirt. What a cruel thing–this teething, this ripping of your precious gums by opportunistic pearly whites! Your gummy grin is irresistible now; I cannot imagine how sweet a snaggle-toothy smile will be. It is a tough price you pay for your cuteness.

Our catamaran excursion stopped on a remote Antiguan island, and you lazed happily on one of our brightly colored sarongs under the shade of weather-worn mangroves. Your space was under attack by curious and tenacious lizards of all colors and sizes. (We’re pretty sure they were the ones being encroached upon.) I’m not sure you are a beach baby just yet, though you don’t mind the sand or the wildlife. Despite being in the Caribbean, the water was a little chilly for you, and you cannot stand to have the sun on your face. Another hindrance to your early infant sun worshipping: I found it a bit challenging to make sure your brand new baby skin was adequately slathered in 50+ sunscreen! (You are so darn cute!)![]()
